Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy is specialized, whole-body care that supports the muscles responsible for bladder, bowel, sexual health, and core stability. These muscles work in close coordination with your core and play a vital role in everyday movement. During pregnancy and the postpartum period, changes in the pelvic floor can contribute to pain, pressure, leaking, feelings of weakness or disconnection, and other common concerns.

Working with a pelvic floor physical therapist helps you prepare for pregnancy, birth, and recovery with intention and support. During pregnancy, care focuses on building strength, mobility, and body awareness while preparing your body for labor and delivery. This foundation is incredibly valuable postpartum, when your body is adjusting to lifting, carrying, feeding, and caring for your baby. Addressing concerns early and supporting your body through each phase can lead to a smoother recovery and a more confident return to daily activities and movement.

Even if you are not currently experiencing symptoms, pelvic floor physical therapy can be a powerful preventative tool. It offers education, guidance, and individualized support so you feel informed, connected to your body, and prepared for the physical demands of parenthood.

Common pregnancy and postpartum conditions we support include:

Pelvic girdle pain (hips, low back, SI joints, pubic symphysis), tailbone pain, pelvic pressure or heaviness, urinary leakage, urgency or frequency, bowel dysfunction or constipation, symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse, pain with sex, diastasis recti and core weakness, postural and movement-related pain, discomfort related to breastfeeding or baby care, and guidance for labor preparation and a safe return to exercise.

"I started seeing Deena in the early third trimester of my pregnancy and I’m so glad I did! I learned so much about how to care for my changing body during pregnancy and in postpartum. I’ve never felt so connected to my breath and pelvic floor! Deena provided so many tools and exercises to help me feel ready for birth and the continuous changes to come. She was prepared for every session with new exercises, notes and follow up worksheets for me to bring home."
